About Speaker

As the only sister to 4 older brothers, Sara has always had to work extra hard to be heard. She quickly learned the power of words growing up in a family where she could barely get one in edgewise.

Despite spending most of her time with her head in a book or in the clouds, she’s managed to make the Berkeley Fiction Review, the Midwest “Writers to Watch” List, and previously served as a Mississippi Poetry Society Undergraduate Laureate. A survivor of domestic and sexual violence, she practices poetry kintsugi – filling painful cracks with ink, fixing brokenness with a ballpoint, converting ugly to utility with every file save.

Fully embracing her identity as a namesake of the multi-armed Hindu goddess Saraswati, she recently launched Little Sister Solutions, a niche creative task agency, and is working to finish both her graduate thesis and a rhyming children’s book.
